Opportunity – J. J. Ingalls (Powerful Life Poetry)

Business No Comments »

Opportunity, it is famously said, knocks only once.

John James Ingalls, a U.S. Senator from Kansas, penned an ode to this simple but profound principle in the mid-19th century, and it was said to have become Theodore Roosevelt’s very favourite poem.

When he was president, an autographed copy of it was the only thing besides a portrait to hang in TR’s executive office in the White House.

Opportunity Partners Helps People with Disabilities despite COVID-19 Challenges

The novel coronavirus has impacted Opportunity Partners in several ways. They’ve had to furlough some staff members, while trying to keep group homes staffed. They also had to cancel their gala. We spoke with President and CEO Armando Camacho about what they are facing and how the public can help.

“Helping Service Providers Find Those in Need of Care”
848-444-9865

In this week’s episode of A Drink With “The Hurricane,” we are continuing our discussion on networking events and proper etiquette for those referrals we are all after. Our Home Care marketing tip is all about touring. If you’ve ever been at an event, there is usually a moment when the host speaks to the group and asks if anyone wants a tour at the conclusion of the event. Then when the event ends, I am shocked to see that only 2-3 people out of 30-50 actually stick around to take a tour. Most people, network and then leave without even thinking to take a tour.

Now, I know you may be thinking, “I’ve already gone on a tour of this place, how will it benefit me?” The question you really SHOULD be asking is, “Am I currently getting referrals from this account?” I’m going out on a limb here and say, “No you’re not,” (I’m right, aren’t I?) and that’s the reason you need to tour. Have you met everyone who works there yet? Do you know what to say to each person at that account and how to position yourself for referrals? Did you schedule time to come back for 1-on-1 follow up? All these things, and more, are things that need to happen during a tour.

Let’s take scheduling a time to come back for a 1-on-1, for example. It’s hard to follow up with people and get them to commit to something. This is where it’s essential that you take the time to schedule that 1-on-1 time while you’re there. It’s simple. After the tour, or near the end of the tour when you go by their office, ask for a time to come back. Suggest pulling up their calendar if they say they are busy. What are they going to say? “I don’t have my calendar.” They can’t, you’re in their office.

Now you’re going to need a reason to come back, of course, and have something to talk about. One thing that’s really easy to talk about, is having them host an event and collaborate on it together. They obviously do this often, hence why you’re there in the first place, and it’s something you should be doing periodically, so it just makes sense. You are there for a networking meeting and don’t have all day to set this up now, so scheduling the 1-on-1 follow up to plan it out works for the both of you. Now the host is interested in seeing you again, while you have an appointment for follow up.

That’s making the most of your networking time. You took the time to drive there and meet all these individuals. Now take that extra 15-20 minutes to start working with the host site and grow your business.
I can spend countless hours talking about networking and getting referrals from events, but think about what I said here, and what was shown to you in the video above. If you need help with what to say, how to say it, and what the next steps are, then I strongly suggest you sign up for Team Hurricane right now, as there will be a webinar exclusively for members in April on all things Networking events and getting those precious Home Care Referrals. Get the tools necessary to dominate your market place and blow away the competition!!!

Opportunity Only Knocks Once

Business No Comments »

I believe that opportunity knocks more than once, but it doesn’t knock often. One definition of luck is preparation meeting opportunity. However without action luck doesn’t have may not be enough. So be prepared and ready to take action when you are presented with an opportunity.

Explanation of the idiom “Opportunity only knocks once “.

The brand of English that I speak is a very neutral American accent. Many people around the world have told me that my English is easy to understand. I think if you can adjust to hearing my English, you can understand most Hollywood movies.

I strongly recommend that you play my videos and listen to them in a relaxed way while doing housework, or lying. Just let it come into your ears while you are thinking about other stuff.

When I was a child, I did not have to figure out English. People spoke around me, and I just learned it.

Also, remember that it takes a looong time, so you need to look at it long term. If you have been studying for 5 years, that is commendable, but if you think about it, it is not much time to learn a language. A five year old native child doesn’t have a very big vocabulary and cannot really speak very well, and a 10 year old, cannot read, or write very well, even though they are a prime age to learn. So, give it time.

Also, I want to talk about shadowing. To listen, and repeat what you hear in my videos, or other videos will be extremely useful in creating the mind-muscle connection in forming your mouth around the words.

This channel is primarily for ESL and EFL students who want to learn idioms. I will teach primarily American English idioms, as these are the ones I know. I will do it in a conversational way as if we are having an English lesson face-to-face. I intentionally do not have noisy intros or outros to my videos because I think one of the best ways to learn a language is when you are not really paying close attention. I think if you take my playlists and loop them while you are sleeping, at a low volume, you will program your brain to hear natural English. This is better than a CD because I am just talking to you, as if I were talking to a friend. I am not performing, or changing my English, so you can get used to hearing standard American English as it is spoken among native speakers. Ok, I simplify it a little, in that I am not using as many idioms in a row, as I would if I were just chatting with a native speaker, but that is just so you won’t be overwhelmed.

“Englische Idiome” “Englisches Hoerverstehen” “Englische Redewendungen” “Englische Aussprache” Bedeutung “Englisch lernen” “Angreji Padhe” “Angreji Muhaware” Arth “Angreji Suniye” “Angreji Kahawat” “Angreji Uccharan” “английские пословицы” “учить английски” “Восприятие английского на слух” Значение “Английские идиомы” “Изучать английский” เรียนภาษาอังกฤษ สำนวนภาษาอังกฤษ การฟังภาษาอังกฤษ ภาษิตภาษาอังกฤษ การออกเสียงภาษาอังกฤษ 英語 イディオム 英会話 諺 名言,expresiones en inglés,idiomi inglesi, des expressions anglaises, idiom bahasa Inggris,thành ngữ tiếng anh, engelskt idiom,英语习语,англи хэл Idioms, englanti sanontojen, ingilizce deyimler, angol kifejezések,영어 숙어,engels idioom, englanti sanontojen, anglické idiomy, engelske idiomer,английски идиоми,hadal sarbeebeed oo Ingiriisi, idiomuri engleza,Whether you want to learn American English with JenniferESL, speak English with Mister Duncan, Bilingirl Chika (バイリンガール英会話), EnglishLessons4U, bbclearningenglish,Learn English with Let’s Talk,Learn English with Emma,English Lessons with Adam,Learn English 360, Rebecca, Jade, James, Steve Ford, Gill, Papa, Valen, the British Council, Lingling, Joan, Pod English, Voice of America, Anglo-Link,Rachel,EnglishLessons4U,Let’s Talk,ESL and Popular Culture, or Idioms Explained, 劇団ひとり英語力,英語歌,英語歌,英語會話,英語口語訓練, 英語歌, ニュース聞く 英語習う, 忘れる 英語, アメリカ留学, as long as you keep studying. Opportunity by Edward R. Sill – Read by Dave Crenshaw

Business No Comments »

This video is based on my favorite poem: Opportunity by Edward R. Sill. I asked my employee, John, to create this video as a test (he’s only done graphic design to this point).

This video illustrates two poweful principles:

1) Stop wasting your time wishing you had better resources, economy, weather, connections and so on. You have all the opportunity you need to succeed. Take your broken sword and win!

2) Don’t be afraid to delegate: others can and often will exceed your expectations. John delivered something far beyond my expectations, making himself even more invaluable to my company.
